Saline County Regional Airport is third stop for 43rd Annual Air Race Classic
JUNE 3, 2019 – The Air Race Classic (ARC), the all-women cross-country airplane race, will be coming to
Bryant on Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19. Forty-nine airplanes will execute high-speed flybys
over a timing line at Saline County Regional Airport as teams race the clock on their way from Jackson,
Tennessee, to Welland, Ontario, Canada.
This year's course covers 2,538 miles. The 109 racers have four days to complete the course, which will
start in Jackson at 8 a.m. June 18 and end in Welland at 5 p.m. June 21.
After flying the timing line, racers may land to fuel up and eat, then will fly the timing line again as they
depart for the next stop, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Some teams may spend the night in Bryant.
Reporters and photographers can see the planes cross the timing line and meet the racers after they
land.
The Stop Chair at Saline County Regional Airport is Camelia Smith.
