17th ANNUAL PICNIC ON THE COURTHOUSE LAWN

HUGE SUCCESS!

SPECIAL THANK YOU’S TO ALL WHO SPONSORED, DONATED FOOD, PROVIDED SILENT AUCTION ITEMS, DOOR PRIZES AND VOLUNTEERED.

The CADC Single Parent Scholarship Fund Picnic was a huge success. This picnic that is hosted by the Saline County Judge’s office is held every year on the courthouse lawn. The funds raised at the picnic are matched by CADC (up to $6,000) and all funds go to the Single Parent Scholarships. The picnic would not be such a big success without all of the businesses and individuals that come together to pull this event off.

The food this year was donated by:

First Security and the Teal Grill Team, they provided hamburgers with all the trimmings and grilled them up to perfection.
Whole Hog BBQ supplied pulled pork and sauce.
Double D Distributing brought us buns.
Riverside Grocery supplied us with coleslaw.
Dinner’s Ready/Vibrant Occasions sent baked beans.
Chick-fil-A donated waffle potato chips.
Standard Business Systems supplied us with cases of Otis Spunkmeyer cookies that were baked fresh by our very own Angel Koder!
Community Coffee brought us Peach Tea, Sweet Tea, Southern Sweet Tea, and unsweet tea. Big Red donated 100 bottles of water.

We want to take this opportunity to thank them once again for all they do for this event!

This scholarship gives the recipients a hand up not a handout! It helps with things that traditional scholarships don’t cover. Things such as books, gas, auto repairs, babysitting and almost anything that could hinder them from being in class. There are currently 13 single parents in Saline County benefiting from this scholarship. Our sponsors this year were:

This event could not happen without all the VOLUNTEERS that work behind the scenes and on the day of the event. I will not list the names because leaving someone out would be awful. If you volunteered for this event in any manner whatsoever, THANK YOU!

This year we decided to not get the extremely large tent and we would have a back-up plan for bad weather, our backup weather plan failed the day before the picnic. We scrambled to find tents of any and all sizes. Arkansas Health Center came to the rescue with 3 large tents that we put together to make cover in case of the “R” word. Smaller tents were also gathered quickly. We want to thank everyone that drug their tents out and brought them to us or let us come get them - The Saline Courier, Everett Buick-GMC, Crye-Leike - Benton, Saline County OEM and The Saline County Judge’s Office.  Luckily the rain held off, the weather was a little windy but perfect. The silent auction brought in a little over $2,000, making the total proceeds $13,486. Once again, THANK YOU to everyone involved.
