The Sheriff's Office's duties consist of enforcing state and federal laws, traffic control, court bailiffs, and serving of civil and criminal legal papers.

The Sheriff's Office has 47 sworn deputies.  Of these 47 deputies, 9 are assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit, 2 assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit, 3 assigned to Domestic Violence Unit, 3 assigned to the East End Substation, and the remaining ones to patrol, warrants and the civil division.

The Sheriff's Office operates and houses the only detention facility in Saline County.  We house prisoners for Benton, Bryant, Traskwood, Shannon Hills, Haskell and Bauxite Police Departments.

The current facility was constructed in 1982.  The detention staff consist of a Jail Administrator and 20 detention officers.

Saline County Sheriff's Office's jurisdiction is comprised of approximately 750 square miles and serve a population of approximately 100,000 citizens.
