2-29-2000 - I had the opportunity of taking Mr. Smith around to our various county offices, and introducing him to Freddy Burton our County Clerk, Jim Crawford our County Assessor, and Lanny Fite our Saline County Judge.  We tried to find out anything we could about the seal pictured above.  We are still in search of what year the seal was made in and what it was used for.  We are also looking for any old documents that the seal was used on.

3-2-2000 - We have come upon a document dated January 12th, 1863 that has been stamped with this Circuit Court Seal.

If you have any information on this seal, or know any thing about this seal please contact:

These are various old coins Mr. Smith has found in several surrounding areas of Saline County.

Mr. Smith used a White's Metal Detector to find the seal.  There is also a "baby" metal detector called the "Bullseye", they use it to detect directly on the site.  He showed me how they find the metal underground by detecting on the courthouse lawn.
