Meeting Dates

The airport meeting scheduled for;

 Tuesday, October 9, 2007 @ 6:30 PM at the Courthouse in Courtroom #3.

As of August, 2006, over $750,000.00 has been committed to our new facility from the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics.

  • The new Saline County Airport is located on approximately 1,200 acres donated by Alcoa to the Saline County Airport Commission in August of 2002.

  • The appraised value of the land donated by Alcoa is $3,921 per acre for an approximate total value of nearly $4.7 Million.

  • Construction began in November 2002.

  • $13.4 Million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Grants to date have been used to construct the airport.

  • The FAA AIP program is a 95% federal share and 5% local match.  The entire 5% local match to date has come from the value of the land donated by Alcoa.

  • Over 2 million cubic yards of dirt was moved to construct the airport.

  • There is over 122,000 square yards of airfield pavement consisting of 14" of Crushed Aggregate Base Course and 4" Asphalt Hot Mix Surface Course.

  • The Airfield Perimeter Fence surrounding the 1,200 acres is over 7 miles in length.

  • Construction has started on the Airport Access Road which is approximately 5,000 linear feet in length and traverses the Hill Property between Arkansas Highway 183 and the Saline County Airport Commission property.

  • When complete, the Saline County Airport will have a 5,000 foot runway, apron, tie-down space for nearly 30 aircraft, terminal area with a planned 5,000 square foot Terminal Building, fueling facility, tow 12-bay T-Hangars, an area of private hangar development, associated parking and access road from Arkansas Highway 183.  This development will allow the Saline County Airport to serve everything from small general aviation aircraft to most large corporate jets.

  • Future planned improvements include a full parallel taxiway in 2007, additional T-Hangar, corporate hangar development area, and additional private hangar development area 1,000 foot extension of the runway and taxiway that will result in a 6,000 foot runway length, widening of parallel taxiway, additional apron, and installation of an Instrument Landing System (ILS).
